So, I got to the Gym this morning... But only to register the kids for Swimming Lessons...all three of them now lol! Our schedual is filling out nicely..
Monday nites mishy has Highland,
Tuesday morning Cadie has swimming lessons,
Tuesday Nite TJ and Mish have swimming lessons,
Thursday nite Traven has Cadets, (and the occasional weekend function.)
also Thursday Nites, Mishy wants to go to the Youth Centre now she is old enough.
Saturdays that Mishy is up north Traven will go to the Youth Centre.
We went too long without the kids in Organized functions. They were in Navy league for a couple years and that was only Wednesday Nites, and they did one round of swimming lessons since we have been here. Kids need to do stuff outside the home; builds their confidence and has them doing stuff other then sitting in their butts at friends houses playing videogames (Traven). Both Mish and Boo are so Proud of their respective groups; Mish loves dance, and Traven loves all that is involved with Cadets.
Its a little hectic with schedualling; but its worth it. They need it. I HAD to get Traven into the next round of swimming before he goes to Summer Camp this year. I am certain he will need more endurance in the pool at Camp. I know we did Canoe over Canoe rescue at basic in Trenton, and other swimming related things.... Mish needs it for the physical benefits for her dance.
My mom always pressed me about getting the kids involved in things, and i always had an excuse..But it came down to...Okay, Jays schedual is always gonna be messed up, its gonna be a little challenging some nights, but i need to Suck it up because the kids need something of their own to be Proud of! Once Michayla hears the applause of teh crowd at her first show this summer- she is gonna feel really good about herself. When she gets to do her first competition and wins even just a ribbon, its gonna do wonders for her. With Traven, he already eats up the accolades about his perfect uniform and Boots, he was proud as punch after his team won the First Aid competition and took second in the Drill competition when he was in Navy league. He glowed brilliantly every time he passed tests and was promoted. These successes will build confidence in them, and give them drive to succeed when they are older. Starting now, rather then later builds a foundation that will help them make better choices with their peers when they are teens ( Be smart/safe and make good choices, or screw it all and waste it) Its proven that kids involved in Extra curriculars go further.... If your really proud of yourself, your not as likely to get mixed up in something that will drag you down like booze drugs and petty crime.
Its tough some days, but im gonna do what i have to, to give my kids a good chance in life, and the opportunity to be happy, to 'Team Build', and make accomplishments.
Time to get off my Soap Box here.....
Ill write about something else later....
Ciao
